Two-time Group Three winner Phearson set to run at Randwick Racecourse this weekend in the $200,000 Show County Quality (1200m) on Saturday. The Brad Widdup-trained gelding has not raced competitively since finishing 10th in the Ladbrokes BRC Sprint at Doomben.

8-year-old gelding Gentleman Roy won the Group 2 P B Lawrence Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield Racecourse on Saturday. He is the third straight Lindsay Park-trained horse to win this competition after Mr. Brightside’s won the 2022 and 2023 races.

Jokers Grin has won his last three races and now looks to be a major contender for the upcoming Ascot carnival races. The Bernie Miller-trained gelding is now one of the favourites for the Group 1 Winterbottom Stakes in November.

Amelia’s Jewel took part in a 900m trial run at Warwick Farm on Tuesday. The Annabel Neasham-trained mare has not raced since May. She is eyeing a return at the upcoming Group 2 Tramway Stakes (1400m) at Randwick.

Schwarz won the Group 2 Missile Stakes (1200m) by a head on Saturday. It was the first Group 2 win of the young stallion’s career. The victory was also the first Group win for the new training duo of Tom Charlton and John O’Shea.

Irish standout sprinter Crystal Black has shot up the Melbourne Cup betting odds list. The six-year-old has won his last five races. He is now on his way to Australia to contend for the cup at Flemington this November.

The 2024 Cox Plate and Caulfield Cup are just a couple of months away. The latest batch of nominees for two of spring’s biggest races have now been announced. Both races currently have over 100 potential runners.

Williamsburg’s owners are already reaping the rewards from their decision to geld thoroughbred this year. The five-year-old finished first in Saturday’s NSW Jockeys Association Reunion Handicap (1500m) at Rosehill Racecourse. The race was Williamsburg’s first win since October 2022.

One of Chris Waller’s former star runners, Espiona, was sold at an online auction on Wednesday. The six-year-old mare fetched a near record-breaking fee.

Trainer Clayton Douglas announced this week that Giga Kick is ready to return to racing. The Group 1 winning gelding had missed nearly one-year with injury. Giga Kick is set to race in Sydney trial races all next month.
