James Cummings and Godolphin Racing’s Traffic Warden has been selected to run in The Everest at Randwick Racecourse on 19 October. The three-year-old son of Street Boss is one of the betting favourites to win the $20 million race.

Airman narrowly won the Group 2 Premiere Stakes (1200m) at Randwick Racecourse on Saturday. The five-year-old gelding beat out some of the biggest Everest contenders, including Bella Nipotina, Giga Kick, and Think About It. Airman is now in contention for The Everest.

Ben, JD, and Will Hayes of the Lindsay Park training team say their star, Arkansaw Kid, could run in The Everest and Golden Eagle races back-to-back starts. These are two of Australia’s richest races and both would be a big test for the gelding.

Trainer Bjorn Baker says star sprinter Overpass is closing in on returning to racing. The gelding could be ready to go as soon as The Everest or the Group 3 Sydney Stakes at Randwick Racecourse on 19 October.

Ciaron Maher’s I Am Me put in a strong performance to win the Group 2 The Shorts at Randwick on Saturday. It was the mare’s second win of the season. She is on track to run in The Everest next month.

Annabel Neasham’s Sunshine In Paris will make her 2024/25 season debut this Saturday at Rosehill Racecourse in the Group 2 Sheraco Stakes (1200m). The five-year-old mare won this race last year before a ligament strain derailed her 2023/24 campaign.

Chain Of Lightning will run in her first race since May on Saturday in the Group 3 Vale Black Caviar (1100m) at Caulfield. If all goes well, the Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman-trained mare could be in the running for a spot in this October’s The Everest at Randwick.

Two-time Group Three winner Phearson set to run at Randwick Racecourse this weekend in the $200,000 Show County Quality (1200m) on Saturday. The Brad Widdup-trained gelding has not raced competitively since finishing 10th in the Ladbrokes BRC Sprint at Doomben.

Amelia’s Jewel took part in a 900m trial run at Warwick Farm on Tuesday. The Annabel Neasham-trained mare has not raced since May. She is eyeing a return at the upcoming Group 2 Tramway Stakes (1400m) at Randwick.
