Suances has some impressive bloodlines, with its dam being a half-sister to the G1 sprinter Sea Siren. Suances had a solid second-place finish in an 800m jump-out at Pakenham on April 30. On debut, the horse closed well from midfield in a slow-paced race.

Suances showed promise at Mornington on May 13, finishing 3rd out of 9 in a 3yo Maiden on a slow track, just 1.5 lengths behind Majority Interest with 56kg at $4. With that experience under its belt, Suances is expected to improve and I think is a strong contender for this race.

Best Roughie: Legatus #4 Cranbourne R7

Legatus has been showing solid form, placing in both starts with strong finishes at Sale. Undefeated at Cranbourne, Legatus is one to watch on Friday night. Third-up on Friday, Legatus first placed 3rd out of 8 at Sale in a BM64 on May 5 over 1728m, trailing The Cunning Fox by 2.5 lengths with 58kg at $26.

In the second run from a spell, Legatus came 2nd out of 9 at Sale in another BM64 on May 19 over 1744m, finishing 3.5 lengths behind Godzilla with 58kg at $6.50. Ready to hit peak form now, Legatus looks like a solid roughie bet.
