Last start, it tried hard but was outgunned, finishing 4th of 9 at Eagle Farm in an Open over 1200m, 3.9 lengths behind Wee Nessy (56.5kg). I expect this runner to finish strong and should offer good value odds for punters on Saturday. He’ll be back from a spell and has performed well when he has been first-up before, winning 4 of 8 starts and placing in the other two. Also, very experienced at the distance and seems to enjoy the 1200m. J-Mac is on board for the first time and he’s always a good bet in the big races.

Best Roughie: Miss Aria #9 Caulfield R8

Miss Aria showed form on October 5 at Flemington , placing 2nd out of 12 in an Open on a soft track, just 0.1 lengths behind Revolutionary Miss (57kg) with 55kg at $8.50. After that race, I think Miss Aria can potentially improve and possibly get the win this time. Previously, 1st of 12 at Moonee Valley BM84 on September 7, 2024 over 1200m. Caulfield stats are excellent, having not finished outside the top 3 yet. Should enjoy the distance (1400m). In good form at the moment, so hopefully that continues.

Stats and Insights

Randwick is a very wide track with a good run-in that makes it one of the fairest tracks around. It’s hard to say backmarkers are advantaged, but they are the closest thing to advantaged at Randwick Racecourse.

Caulfield Racecourse is a tighter track than Flemington and suits on pacers more until distances past 1600m.

The first 3-4 races in most meetings are called "Maidens" and these races are usually risky and unpredictable. This is because the runners are usually making their debut or have only had a few starts. So it's advisable to stay from these races unless you have a good bankroll.
