Meanwhile, my roughie of the day is Threatening at Wyong in Race 8. The track conditions at Pakenham are looking good for racing, the track is a good 4 at this stage. Wyong is also a good 4 rating at the moment. Let's get into it!

I like the chances of Mr Verse to have one of the strongest chances on the card. Last race saw a determined third-place effort, staying in contention. Mr Verse placed 3rd out of 8 runners at Sandown-Lakeside over 1800m on 01/02/2025, with a margin of 1.3 lengths. Was at $4.40, the runner carried 57kg under B Shinn jumping from barrier 1. The outing was held racing on a good surface in BM70. A perfect barrier for this horse’s running style. At this stage, Blake Shinn is listed to ride his on Thursday. They should settle nicely into this race. Trainer T & C McEvoy has given him the all clear to run on Thursday. Solid strike rate at this trip (1600m), should be competitive. Not the most prolific winner, but always trying. The allocated weight of 59kg should not be an issue for this runner.

Threatening presents good value for punters that are looking for a decent each-way bet. Secured third last start, proving to be in solid form. Threatening took on 1400m at Hawkesbury on 12/09/2024, and crossed the line 3rd, beaten 2.8 lengths. Carrying 59kg under J Ford, the runner went off at $4.60 jumping from barrier 4. The race was run on a good surface. No wins on a good track yet but I think it will like it. He has placed in 3 of 4 starts in these conditions before. In the saddle will be Jay Ford on Thursday. They are a skilled jockey that I have full confidence in. This runner comes from the Joseph Pride Stable. Track record isn’t inspiring, but anything can happen at Wyong on Thursday. Could be a major threat if he jumps well from the 5 barrier.

On the weekend, it was another great day at the track across the country. In Group 1 racing, Another Wil claimed the CF Orr Stakes 2025 with a thrilling finish to pip Mr Brightside at the line. Rivellino won the Inglis Millennium in fairly comfortable fashion at Randwick on Saturday afternoon.
