Racing returns to Ballarat racecourse and Scone racecourse off the back of what has been an awesome Autumn Group 1 races season and I think that we are set for what looks to be another great week of racing after the $5 million Queen Elizabeth Stakes was run at Randwick this past Saturday. Split Decision looks like a good way to open things up for Matty Smith in the betting at Scone tomorrow and I have followed this guy through his short seven start career in which he’s been very impressive, winning three of the starts and placing runner up in another. He comes here after winning at Newcastle three weeks ago where he resumed from a 12 week break and found plenty to win there. He’s had a very sharp tick over trial between runs in which he still looks to be moving very well and all things considered I think he will be tough to get past here at a good price.

I think that Romantic Warrior is massive overs here for the Dabernig camp and that he can definitely fire at a price coming into this off the back of what was a completely luckless run at The Valley where he was posted wide and buried deep in the field before being eased out of the race to finish last when not able to build into it at all. However, the runs prior had been excellent with the start prior being a very strong three length win at Geelong to hold a field at bay with what didn’t look like much effort from him. Happy to take him at that value and will have something on come the jump.
