Enjoy the horse racing action with my Tuesday horse racing best bets. Merchant Empire has caught my eye in Race 7 at Newcastle. I also like the look of Lights Of Paradise in Race 8 at Newcastle. The Newcastle track is looking heavy for race day on Tuesday so keep that in mind. Let's get into it!

A standout is Merchant Empire in Newcastle Race 7. The gelding’s only start to date was an exceptional 1200m Wyong debut, finishing first. His strong start demonstrates that he could be a trusted runner going forward.

Zac Lloyd will partner Merchant Empire with 59kg under his belt from barrier 9 for this race. Rated heavy (8) for the track conditions, that is a query. However, he looked strong on debut, has trialled well at Rosehill and he’s back at the same distance.

As a roughie bet in Newcastle Race 8, Lights Of Paradise looked tempting thanks to its decent win percentage of 40% and place percentage of 80%. Five starts to her account, for two wins, one second, one third-place finish.

Her last recorded race was on December 26, 2024, at Beaumont covering 1350m; ridden by A. Gibbons at 58.5kg; came second of seven. Before that, she won 1200m at Tuncurry on 9th December 2024 on a soft ground. She has been placed in the 1 Barrier in her prior two runs and will be back in this race as well.

Despite running only a few times on heavy tracks, she finished in 3rd at her only previous race on such a surface, meaning she may do well in the conditions. On form, speed and under race conditions, Lights Of Paradise appears to be nice value.
