Canterbury - Race 1 - Chase The Dream Handicap - 1230m

Selections:
5. Eternal - $2.00
1. Island Dec - $4.60
7. Lutetia - $7.00

BEST BET - Eternal - $2.00
The Chris Waller and James McDonald combination here feels significant, as Eternal chases a second consecutive win at this level. It returns to action following the best part of a year out and fitness is the only minor concern.

THE DANGER - Island Dec - $4.60
Coming a close third at Randwick at the back end of 2024 should give Island Dec plenty of confidence coming into this one. It doesn't have sparkling form to call upon but Island Dec is a plucky type, who will compete here.

VALUE BET -  Lutetia - $7.00
Similarly, Lutetia has some good recent performances to replicate here at Canterbury and conditions will suit. The favourites are very strong but this horse could sneak into contention if if gets a clean run.

Canterbury - Race 3 - Ranvet Handicap - 1250m

Selections:
6. Just Glamourous - $2.90
2. Ragga Ragga - $3.60
11. Magnucat - $4.60

BEST BET - Just Glamourous - $2.90
Waterhouse and Bott at Canterbury is often a combination that does for most competitors and Just Glamourous will be looking to live up to hype here. This is a very consistent horse and it should return to action fit and firing.

THE DANGER - Ragga Ragga - $3.60
Placings of late will be frustrating for Ragga Ragga and this looks to be a chance to right them wrongs at Canterbury. The weather will be key and if it stays dry, this horse should be bang in the mix over this distance.

VALUE BET -  Magnucat - $4.60
Followng a bit of a bomb out at Bathurst last time out, Magnucat has plenty to prove in this one and it will need to hit the ground running. Form will be key for most and Magnucat needs to turn things around quickly.

Canterbury - Race 7 - Kia Evening Star Handicap - 1250m

Selections:
9. Huon - $5.00
10. Sisterhood - $5.50
8. Spicy Hotpot - $7.00

BEST BET - Huon - $5.00
This is arguably the most open race on the card at Canterbury and Huon would be a very optimistic pick to win the race in our eyes. Overcoming some poor recent form would be tough and it looks to be living off reputation a touch.

THE DANGER - Sisterhood - $5.50
Ciaron Maher will want to see Sisterhood put a shift in here, after coming close but not picking up much returns at Wyong last time out. The ground and the distance look well suited, one to watch.

VALUE BET -  Spicy Hotpot - $7.00
Going against the grain somewhat in this field is Spicy Hotpot, who has won all three of its last races and should be bang in the mixer as a result. This is a step up but this horse knows how to get the job done.
