Inglis Millennium Preview and Tips 08/02/25

Million-dollar racing is back at Randwick Racecourse with the Inglis Millennium this Saturday. There is a whopping $2 million on the line in the Inglis Millennium and while it isn’t one of the many Group One races we will see this year, the sheer amount of prize money always brings out a quality field.

Along with the Inglis Millennium, Group One racing returns for 2025 with the CF Orr Stakes, which is run in Melbourne, at Caulfield Racecourse. For the 2025 Inglis Millennium, we see a capacity field of 16 runners, plus four emergencies (well, three now that Make Mine Moet has been scratched).

If you’re ready to kick off what I expect to be a quality Autumn Racing Carnival, we aren’t there just yet, but my Saturday tips for the Inglis Millennium have arrived at OnlyRacing. I’m ready to kick things off with a bang and I’ve got five best bets in total for you, so no matter the type of punter, there’s something for you!

Race Tempo and Likely Leaders

There are a lot of runners in this one with decent barrier speed, so I’m expecting a fast pace for the Inglis Millennium. The likes of Kujenga and Open Secret look to be the likely leaders and I reckon Cobra Club and Bellazaine will also look to sit near the front of the pack. With a capacity field and a short distance, each runner’s settling position is crucial.

It’s an open field, but the current favourite with PlayUp, Price Tag, will likely look to settle near the rear of the field, getting some much-needed cover throughout the race. Price Tag will need to ensure he doesn’t wait too long or give too much of a lead away to the front runners in this one.

Inglis Millennium Best Bet - Rivellino

You would think by now I would be used to an open field! For the Inglis Millennium, we have five runners in single digits, thanks to PlayUp. After reviewing the entire field, I’m siding with Rivellino. This will be the colt’s second start after winning on debut last time out. PlayUp has Rivellino on the second line of betting at the time of writing, with odds of $4.80.

I could have easily put the current favourite, Price Tag, on top but I think Rivellino has a little bit of X-factor that will help him in this one. In his short career (including trials), he has only raced at Randwick, so he knows the track and jockey James McDonald says in the saddle after a recent trial.

Rivellino to win @ $4.80.

Inglis Millennium Safe Bet - Price Tag

I would be silly not to include Price Tag in my set of tips for the Inglis Millennium and I think big things are awaiting this filly, who is also nominated for the Blue Diamond Stakes later on in the month. With Bet365, Price Tag is the current favourite, going around with odds of $3.80.

We saw Price Tag in the Filly’s Blue Diamond Preview in late January where she finished second behind My Gladiola. Jockey Tyler Schiller retains the ride and will have to work hard from a wide barrier in this one. It wouldn’t surprise me to see Price Tag winning this one and using this victory as a launching pad into a profitable Autumn Racing Carnival.

Inglis Millennium Value Bet - Cobra Club

In an open market, I think there is a little bit of value with Cobra Club. In his only start to date, the colt finished second at Randwick in the Inglis Nursery by just 0.3L, after jumping with odds of $21. His odds have come in a lot for the Inglis Millennium on Saturday, but there’s still value and you can get him at $7.00 for the win at Dabble.

I reckon he is a considerable threat and some are writing him off. He is jumping from a wide-ish barrier, but does have reasonable barrier speed, so will look to settle in just behind the leaders with cover. He’ll probably need some luck on his side with the right breaks at the right time, but if he gets that, he’ll be hard to hold out.

Inglis Millennium The Danger - Bellazaine

With QuestBet, Bellazaine started at $11 and now the filly is shortened to $7.75 and it wouldn’t surprise me to see her continue to shorten a little more between now and jump. Despite the shortening in odds, I still think she is a good each-way play and one of the exotics as well.

Didn’t do much in her first and only run so far in her career when she finished midfield in the Group Three Keeneland Gimcrack Stakes at Randwick. However, since then, she has put together back-to-back stellar performances at the trials (both at Randwick as well). Jockey Tim Clark gets the ride and has been with her in every race/ trial so far. One to watch.

Inglis Millennium Best Roughie - Grafterburners

I think I’ve found a good one for all your roughie lovers out there. Grafterburners is currently going around with odds of $23 to win the 2025 Inglis Millennium on Saturday with Bet Right. There are a lot of unknowns about him, but the same can be said about the majority of the field, so at $23, I’ll be taking that every day of the week.

He has three races so far in his career and is yet to finish outside of the top three. He picked up the first win of his career back in December at Ipswich. He makes his way to Sydney for the first time and while he might not have Sydney form like others in this one, his Queensland form looks pretty darn good.
