Inglis Sires Produce Stakes Preview and Tips 05/04/25

A massive day of racing awaits us as it is Day One of The Championships at Randwick Racecourse. We have four Group One races plus the Country Championships Final to feast on. On Saturday we see the Inglis Sires Produce Stakes, the Doncaster Mile, the TJ Smith Stakes and the Australian Derby.

A field of 10 runners awaits us in the 2025 Inglis Sires Produce Stakes. There’s a cool $1 million available in this 1,400m race and the winner will walk away with $580K. It’s a reasonably open field for this year’s Inglis Sires Produce Stakes, with Wodeton currently holding favouritism with PlayUp.

It’s a big day of racing and my Saturday tips cover all the biggest races on the card at Randwick. Here at OnlyRacing, there’s no shortage of horse racing tips, that’s for sure! My best bets for the Inglis Sires Produce Stakes have landed and there is certainly something for everyone.

Race Tempo and Likely Leaders

There are two clear leaders in this one, Vinrock and Bellazaine both possess fast barrier speed and will likely duke it out to see which one settles in front of the other. It’s a small field, so most runners should get their fair crack in the race if they are good enough. I’m expecting a moderate tempo as well for this one.

The current pre-race favourite, Wodeton, jumps from the second widest barrier, so he’ll probably look to stay out of trouble in the early stages. He’ll probably settle near the middle-to-rear of the field. He does have a bit of closing speed, so look for him flying down the home straight.

Inglis Sires Produce Stakes Best Bet - Wodeton

While there are a few quality runners in this one, I do think the market has it right and Wodeton looks to be the one to beat. Wodeton was close to getting the job done in the Golden Slipper last time out but ended up finishing 0.2L behind Marhoona. The colt is currently the $2.80 favourite with PlayUp.

Had to wait a little longer than I think he wanted to for the right gap in the Golden Slipper, but with a field of just 10 in this one, I don’t think he’ll have that same issue again here. Draws the second-widest barrier and I think that might work to his advantage. With regular jockey James McDonald not available, it’s up to Ryan Moore to get the job done.

Inglis Sires Produce Stakes Safe Bet - Vinrock

The barrier draw is one of the main things that excites me about Vinrock. He’s got some fast barrier speed and he draws barrier one, making it easier for him to dictate the race how he likes. The 2YO has won his first two races to start his career in the best way possible after winning the VRC Sires last time out.

Vinrock is currently on the third line of betting with Bet365, going around with odds of $4.80. He’ll be looking to replicate what he did in the VRC Sires in this one after leading throughout and winning by 2L. Mark Zahra and Vinrock have a great relationship and I expect it to continue to flourish further on Saturday.

Inglis Sires Produce Stakes Value Bet - State Visit

State Visit is worthy of a shout in my opinion and at a good price as well! Dabble is offering $12 for the colt at the time of writing. The 2YO won his maiden back in February and then last time out, he tackled the Pago Pago Stakes, where he finished a respectable third out of 11 runners, 3.8L off the leader, Skyhook.

The rise in trip to 1,400m looks to be a good move by the Ciaron Maher barn and I think he’ll enjoy his time out on the Randwick track for the first time. Jockey Jason Collett has been with State Visit for both of his career runs so far and he saddles up again with the 2YO. I think he’ll be motoring home and has a good chance of finishing in the placings.

Inglis Sires Produce Stakes The Danger - Rivellino

I don’t think you can overlook Rivellino for the 2025 Inglis Sires Produce Stakes and the 2YO won his first three career starts before a fourth place in the Golden Slipper last time out. I had him as my best bet for the Golden Slipper but he just got too far back and had too much work to do late in the piece.

He did hit the line well and this time out, he has a smaller field to contend with. Hugh Bowman retains the ride from the Golden Slipper into this one, so that’s another big plus. Rivellino is currently on the second line of betting with QuestBet and you can get on him at odds of $4.30 to take the win.

Inglis Sires Produce Stakes Best Roughie - Federalist

With some of Arcadia Queen’s blood running in Federalist, I’m interested to see how he goes in his first Group One attempt. I’m taking a chance with Federalist who is unproven, but he does have form around Buffalo, who is also expected to run in this one. The winkers go on the 2YO for the first time as well.

He’s a big colt and I think he’ll enjoy the smaller field here. Didn’t have any space to show what he was capable of in his first career start and finished fifth out of six runners last time out. This is certainly a step up but I think he’ll surprise a few. Bet Right is currently offering $21 for Federalist to get the win on Saturday.
