Vinery Stud Stakes Preview and Tips 01/04/25

*The Vinery Stud Stakes will now be run on Tuesday April 1 after poor weather in Sydney on Saturday resulted in the race being postponed.*

The Autumn Racing Carnival rolls on and this Saturday we are treated to three Group One races, with the Vinery Stud Stakes and Tancred Stakes taking place at Rosehill Racecourse. On top of this, we see the Australian Cup also take place, which is at the famous Flemington Racecourse.

For the Vinery Stud Stakes in particular, there are nine runners confirmed. The likes of Treasurethe Moment, Declichy Boulevard, Movin Out, Benagil and others all expected to take their place in the starting barriers on Saturday. The race is run across a distance of 2,000m and there is a whopping $750K on the line.

It’s going to be another great day of racing and you can make it even better by checking out my Saturday tips here at OnlyRacing. I’ve got a set of tips for all three Group One races this weekend, but this article is for the Vinery Stud Stakes specifically. I’ve looked through the entire field and have put together my best bets, which you can check out right here.

Race Tempo and Likely Leaders

There doesn’t seem to be a lot of speed here and the current pre-race favourite, Treasurethe Moment, might be able to get things all her way. The filly looks to be the only one with solid barrier speed and we might see her cut across from barrier five to lead this one and dictate how the race in general plays out.

Declichy Boulevard and Movin Out, who are some of the other more favoured runners in the 2025 Tancred Stakes, will probably look to settle back near the rear of the field, jumping from barriers nine and seven, respectively. It’s a small field, with just nine runners announced, so each runner should get their fair chance if they are good enough.

Vinery Stud Stakes Best Bet - Treasurethe Moment

It’s an easy one for the best bet in the Vinery Stud Stakes in 2025, Treasurethe Moment is clearly the one to beat and the odds certainly reflect that. You can pick up Treasurethe Moment for odds of $1.55, at PlayUp, which puts her solidly as the heavy favourite. There’s not necessarily a whole stack of value, but she’s so good, I’m happy to take that price.

The only query is the fact that she hasn’t raced on anything softer than a Soft5 and with the rain around, it’ll probably be in the Soft range. So, if you hold off placing your bets until race day and there’s a heap of rain, you might be able to pick her up for higher odds. No matter the conditions though, I think she’ll still get the win. She’s on a six-race winning streak.

Vinery Stud Stakes Safe Bet - Declichy Boulevard

Everyone has their eyes on Treasurethe Moment, but I think you would be silly to count out Declichy Boulevard in the 2025 Vinery Stud Stakes. The filly comes into this one fourth up and it seems like she has been steadily improving with each run. Currently, Declichy Boulevard is on the equal third line of betting with Bet365, at odds of $8.00.

In her last run, she finished third in the Phar Lap Stakes and she was a bit wide throughout, so it was a good result for her in the end. She does draw the widest barrier of them all, but it’s a small field. Nash Rawiller is back in the saddle after JMac took over last time out and she’s good enough to take advantage if Treasurethe Moment isn’t on her A-game.

Vinery Stud Stakes Value Bet - Powers Of Opal

If you’re looking for a little bit of value, I think I’ve found it on Powers Of Opal. There are nine runners in the Tancred Stakes on Saturday, so third dividends will be paid out and Powers Of Opal looks to be a good place bet in my opinion. At the time of writing, Dabble is offering $19 for the filly to take the win or $3.30 for the place.

So far, she’s had two runs over the distance of 2,000m and she has finished second in both, behind Treasurethe Moment on both occasions. Last time out, she finished sixth in the Phar Lap Stakes and the race tempo didn’t really suit her. Treasurethe Moment will look to take the tempo as she wants and this will be more suitable for Powers Of Opal.

Vinery Stud Stakes The Danger - Verona Rose

I don’t think we should be discounting Verona Rose in this one and it wouldn’t surprise me to see her finish in the top three on Saturday. She takes a different path into the Vinery Stud Stakes compared to some of the other fillies and she won the Kembla Grange Classic last time out.

At the moment, you can pick up Verona Rose for odds of $12.50 and that puts her on the fifth line of betting, with QuestBet. She’s currently undefeated in her career, but this is certainly a step up to what she has experienced in her three runs so far. Verona Rose is also bred for this trip as well.

Vinery Stud Stakes Best Roughie - Ella Hazel

I’m interested in setting how Ella Hazel will go in this race and while she currently has the highest odds of the entire field, I’ll be putting something small on her to place. Ella Hazel is currently going around with odds of $71 to get the win and $7.50 for the place, thanks to Bet Right.

The 3YO comes into this one third up and broke through for her maiden win last time out in Wyong. This is obviously a massive step up, but winning form has to be considered as seven of the last 14 Vinery Stud Stakes winners have also claimed victory in their lead-up race. She’s bred to enjoy the conditions as well.
