Oxford Blue is marked as Wednesday’s best bet, with all signs pointing to success. Back from a spell on Wednesday and has trialled well ahead of this race - finishing 3rd in his latest jumpout. Jockey Ethan Brown is 1-0-2 in 4 starts and I think they’ll run well together again.

THE DANGER - #4 - Le Mans
Le Mans is an under-the-radar runner with the ability to upset the favourite. Finished outside the top four, but had some encouraging moments in the race. Last start performance, Le Mans placed 7th over 1400m at Seymour. Carried 59kg, guided by Ethan Brown, and started at $3.30. Has the speed to make use of an inside barrier.

VALUE BET - #6 - Cavalry Man
A great each-way option with the potential to surprise. Ran outside the top four last time but wasn’t disgraced in the effort. Last outing, Cavalry Man took on a 2000m race at Seymour and finished 8th. Carried 60.5kg, started at $4.00, and handled a good surface. The barrier draw looks great for this runner, he will start in the 4 Barrier.

BEST BET - #2 - Bancory Bay - (NEXT BEST)
Bancory Bay is my best chance of the day on Wednesday, all set to fire. Claimed victory in the previous race. Last time out, Bancory Bay competed over 1500m, placing 1st at Sandown-Hillside. Jumped from barrier 1, carried 58kg, and starting price of $6.50 odds. Drawn well in a barrier that should provide a good run. Unbeaten at this trip - knows exactly how to get the job done over 1500m. Handles the distance well, boasting 2 wins from 2 runs. Flawless here at Sandown - this is its happy place, it seems.

THE DANGER - #1 - Athanatos
In this race, I would say that Athanatos is a genuine danger in this race, with strong recent form. Held on for third in the previous race, displaying solid consistency. Athanatos raced at Pakenham, covering 1200m and finishing 3rd. Carried 61kg with Daniel Stackhouse aboard. Track was good. Has the speed to make use of an outside barrier. Despite no wins yet at Sandown, Athanatos has had some solid performances here.

VALUE BET - #10 - Pula
Get Pula at a good price, the odds may change. Pula competed at Bendigo over 1400m, finishing 1st. Jumped from barrier 4, carried 57kg, and was ridden by Blake Shinn. A horse that wins just as much as it places. An inside gate could see it settle in a handy position. Thrives in good track conditions and should be competitive again.

King Zephyr is the prime choice for Wednesday’s racing action. Showed class and determination to win last race. King Zephyr ran at Pakenham on 13/02/2025, finishing 1st in a 1200m event. Jockey Jordan Childs was aboard, carrying 59.5kg. Track was rated good. A good draw too, gets to run from the 2 Barrier. 1300m distance suits - right in the mix. At this range, has a career record of 1-0-1, including 1 victory.

THE DANGER - #9 - Divine Thoughts
Divine Thoughts could pose a real challenge to the more fancied runners. A strong runner-up finish last start, showing great determination. Divine Thoughts raced recently, placing 2nd in a 1500m event at Caulfield Heath. Jockey Luke Nolen guided the runner, carrying 58.5kg. Started at $2.70 odds.

VALUE BET - #14 - Hotinherre
Hotinherre offers plenty of value for punters looking outside the top runners in this field. Hotinherre showed signs of promise in the debut and returns to confirm its ability. Last start, Hotinherre finished in the placings over 1212m at Kilmore on 11/02/2025. Carried 57.5kg under T Ladd, started at $7.00. Track rated good. Has never tasted defeat - winning is all it knows. The 8 Barrier should suit this horse.
