BEST BET - #4 - El Tercero - (BEST BET)
I think El Tercero should be a confident pick for midweek racing, tipped as my best bet. El Tercero now has race experience and returns looking to build on a solid debut. Last start, El Tercero finished in the placings over 1000m at Pakenham on 13/02/2025. Carried 59kg under Daniel Moor, started at $3.10. Track rated good.

THE DANGER - #12 - Bossy Benita
Bossy Benita has the credentials to trouble the race’s leading chances. A strong third-place effort in the previous race, staying competitive. Bossy Benita lined up at Pakenham, finishing 3rd over 1200m. Backed at $2.70, jumped from barrier 7, and carried 57kg under Daniel Stackhouse. A good draw too, gets to run from the 1 Barrier. Hasn’t won at Sandown yet, but might be ready to change that. Would love to break the drought - can it do so on Wednesday?

VALUE BET - #9 - The Muffin Man
I think The Muffin Man is a smart value bet that could produce a strong return. In its third-ever start, The Muffin Man is gaining more experience and improving with each race. Last start performance, The Muffin Man placed 5th over 1400m at Pakenham. Carried 57kg, guided by Craig Newitt, and started at $8.00. Still in search of that first win, but has shown ability. The draw could be tricky but not impossible to overcome.

BEST BET - #7 - Nothingelsematters - (NEXT BEST)
With form and conditions in its favour, Nothingelsematters is my standout Wednesday pick. Last race resulted in a third-place finish, keeping in touch with the leaders. Nothingelsematters ran at Pakenham on 06/02/2025, finishing 3rd in a 1600m event. Jockey Damian Lane was aboard, carrying 61kg. Track was rated good. Has won from similar barriers before, so should be fine.

THE DANGER - #8 - Muppet
I think Muppet is a strong threat to the leading contenders in this event. Held on for third in the previous race, displaying solid consistency. Muppet stepped out at Geelong, finishing 3rd over 1733m. Raced on a good surface, carrying 57.5kg under Declan Bates. Has the speed to make use of an outside barrier.

VALUE BET - #5 - Myers Reward
Attractive odds make Myers Reward an interesting value selection. Finished outside the top four, but had some encouraging moments in the race. The 8 Barrier should suit this horse. Still looking for its first win at the Sandown track.

BEST BET - #4 - Carbonados 
Carbonados is my Wednesday best bet, carrying the highest expectations of the card. Missed the top four last start but kept on well in the closing stages. Carbonados raced recently, placing 6th in a 1100m event at Caulfield Heath. Jockey Michael Dee guided the runner, carrying 60kg. Started at $3.90 odds. A wide draw means it might have to do extra work early. Yet to crack it at this track (Sandown) - will this race be the one?

THE DANGER - #2 - Russian Meteor 
Russian Meteor is likely to give the favourite something to think about. A winner last time out, bringing great form into this race. Last start performance, Russian Meteor placed 1st over 1400m at Sandown-Lakeside. Carried 60.5kg, guided by Jamie Mott, and started at $7.50. Winless at Sandown - needs to lift to turn that around, this could be his race to do it.

VALUE BET - #7 - The Shaper
I think that The Shaper represents solid value in Wednesday’s betting markets. A finish outside the top four last start, but there were positives to take away. The Shaper stepped out at Caulfield, finishing 8th over 1400m. Raced on a good surface, carrying 55kg under Billy Egan. A perfect barrier for this horse’s running style. Performed well here, winning 1 time from 3 starts.
