All Aged Stakes Best Bet - Jimmysstar

What a cracking edition of the All Aged Stakes we are treated to in 2025! With lots of quality runners lining up, the market is quite open and it was difficult to choose just one runner to put down as my best bet. In the end, I went with Jimmysstar. The gelding is currently going around with odds of $6.00, putting him on the second line of betting with PlayUp.

He was brilliant first-up winning the Oakleigh Plate, then he headed to the William Reid Stakes, where he finished third, picking up strongly in the closing stages. Last time out, he contested the TJ Smith Stakes, finishing fourth, which was pretty good considering he blew the start. Ethan Brown books the ride and the pair have a good relationship. Draws well.

All Aged Stakes Next Best - Briasa

It would be silly for me not to include Briasa in my set of tips for the All Aged Stakes in 2025. The 4YO is the current favourite with PlayUp, going around with odds of $3.70. He’s another that is coming through the TJ Smith Stakes, a race he won by 0.2L to Overpass. The gelding also has an impressive career record of 9:7-0-0.

The TJ Smith Stakes has been the ideal lead-up run as seven of the last nine winners of the All Aged Stakes have come from that race. He tackles the All Aged Stakes third-up, so he isn’t as deep into his campaign as some of his rivals here and Tyler Schiller has been onboard Briasa for every run so far this campaign. He is another who draws well.

All Aged Stakes Best Roughie - Antino

For my best roughie in the race, I like the look of Antino. The gelding tried his hand in Hong Kong in the Group 1 Hong Kong Mile, but he was checked at a key time in the race, so I wouldn’t read too much into his 11th out of 16th result. The form he displayed in Australia beforehand shows me that he should be right in this.

The 6YO is currently paying $15 with PlayUp and we haven’t seen Antino since the Hong Kong Mile, which was back in December. Looking back at his previous prep, his best run came in the Toorak Handicap, winning by a massive 6.5L and then he backed up that performance with a second place in the Champions Mile, by just 0.2L.

All Aged Stakes Betting

If you’re planning on betting on the All Aged Stakes then it’s a good idea to develop a proper strategy. If you know what you’re doing, you are likely to be more successful. In the beginning, there could be a lot of trial and error, so we think it is a good idea to try out a couple of different betting markets.

You’ll find that all the best betting apps will have multiple markets to choose from. Some markets are certainly more complex than others, so you should stick with what you feel comfortable with and build up from there.

Some of the most common markets that you can bet on when it comes to horse racing include:

  • Win/ Place
  • Each-Way
  • Quinella
  • Trifecta
  • First Four
  • Quaddie
  • Multis

Another thing you need to figure out is who you will bet with. When it comes to the All Aged Stakes betting, all the best Australian horse racing betting sites will have markets. So, it can be a difficult choice to finalise who you would like to bet with.

Australian betting sites like PlayUp, GoldenRush and PalmerBet are all good options if you’re looking for a place to start. They are just three options though and there are certainly many more to choose from. In fact, we have bookie reviews on over 20 Aussie bookies.

You should check out our reviews on them in the “Betting Sites” section earlier on this page. You’ll find out all the information you could ever need to know about the bookie. Equipped with all that information, making a decision becomes so much easier!

In our bookie reviews, we cover things like the best betting sites bonuses, how to bet with the bookie, odds information and so much more. These reviews are written by the OnlyRacing team who have first-hand experience with the specific bookie they are talking about.

So, if you’re looking for the best betting apps going around, our bookie reviews are the best place to start. You don’t want to miss out on any potentially amazing betting promotions either, which is why we always recommend opening multiple accounts. If you do this it is also easier to compare odds, to ensure you are getting the most bang for your buck.

All Aged Stakes Field

We all want to see which runners will line up in the All Aged Stakes in 2025 and now is the time because it is currently race week. The final field has now been confirmed and we know all the details about each and every runner that is expected to take part in the 2025 All Aged Stakes.

Along with the field, if the odds are available, we will list them in our “Odds” section. It can be worthwhile checking out the odds throughout the year because you’ll see which runners are more favoured in the market and therefore more likely to make an appearance in the All Aged Stakes.

In 2025, we saw a field of 14 runners line up for the All Aged Stakes, which was the same size field we saw in 2024. It’s a high-quality field, but we don’t see any emergencies listed, so if there are any pre-race scratchings, we will see the field size reduced. At the time of writing, we haven’t seen any pre-race scratchings.

You’ll find that scratchings happen a lot of the time in horse racing. It is annoying when the horse you bet on ends up getting scratched, but the good news is that you’ll get your stake back. A runner can get scratched for any number of reasons and it can happen at any time, so don’t forget to keep an eye on things.

Speaking of keeping an eye on things, something else you should look into when the final field is announced is the barrier draw. Some barriers have seen more success in the past than others. As well as this, certain runners will prefer a higher or lower barrier, depending on their racing style.

All Aged Stakes Form Guide

The All Aged Stakes has a long and rich history. Do you know what that means? Many, many pages worth of All Aged Stakes form guide data to go through! If that doesn’t excite you like it excites us here at OnlyRacing, that’s pretty understandable.

We love going through the All Aged Stakes form guide to find patterns that will hopefully point you in the direction of a winner. Over the years, we’ve found some key form indicators that have stuck out like a sore thumb and you can find all the important facts in this section!

One of the first things we do is look into the ideal lead-up races. We’ve found that the most common lead-up races are the Doncaster Mile, the TJ Smith Stakes and the Futurity Stakes.

In more recent years, it has been the TJ Smith Stakes that has been the most successful, with seven of the last nine winners coming from this race.

Like with many Group 1 races, it is pretty much essential that you only focus on runners that are coming into the All Aged Stakes in some form. Since 2004, we have only seen nine All Aged Stakes winners finish worse than second in the lead-up run.

When it comes to the most common age of winners, 3YOs have a healthy record, with 11 3YOs winning the All Aged Stakes since 2012. Fillies and mares also have a good record in the All Aged Stakes, winning on 10 occasions since 2000.

Since 2009, we’ve only seen five winners with a starting price of $5.00 or less. In the same timeframe, we’ve seen a total of four winners jump with a double-digit starting price. So, it’s a bit of a mixed bag when it comes to the results based on the odds!

All Aged Stakes Horses

There are many quality All Aged Stakes horses that have competed and won the race over the years. This section is dedicated to the best of the best horses that have not only won the All Aged Stakes but also left a lasting impression on the horse racing industry.

With a race that has been around for as long as the All Aged Stakes has, we found it difficult to cut down the horses we featured in this section to just a handful. We had to make some really tough decisions, but hopefully, you agree with the choices we have made!

Check out some of the best All Aged Stakes horses to ever win the race here:

Wakeful - 1902

Wakeful was completely dominant in the early 1900s. She won countless races that are now classified as Group 1s including the Oakleigh Plate, the Doncaster Mile, the Sydney Cup and the Turnbull Stakes, just to name a few. She finished her career with a record of 44:25-12-4, which meant she was only unplaced in three races throughout her entire career!

Ajax - 1938-1940

Ajax won the All Aged Stakes three years in a row and each year he successfully beat his own record! He achieved many key race wins throughout his career and was honoured with a Group 2 race named after him, the Ajax Stakes as well as being inducted into the Australian Racing Hall of Fame in 2004.

Tulloch - 1958

The list of Tulloch’s major wins goes on and on, so it’s no surprise he has a Group 2 race named in his honour, the Tulloch Stakes. Some of the biggest races he won throughout his career included the Queen Elizabeth Stakes (three times), the Cox Plate, the Caulfield Cup and the Victoria Derby.

Wenona Girl - 1964

Wenona Girl had a long and successful career which included winning the 1964 All Aged Stakes. She had a career record of 68:27-19-7 and was victorious in races like the Sires Produce Stakes, the Rosehill Guineas, the Flight Stakes along with the King Charles III Stakes.

Sunline - 2000 & 2002

In her time, she was the world’s highest-earning mare, so Sunline certainly deserves a spot on this list! Bred and raced in New Zealand, Sunline crossed the ditch to give winning Australian Group 1 races a crack. She was the Australian Horse of the Year from 2000 to 2002 and won races like the Cox Plate, the Doncaster Mile and the Manikato Stakes.

Atlantic Jewel - 2012

The lightly raced Atlantic Jewel made a big splash in the races she did compete in! Her career record stands at 11:10-1-0, which means she never finished lower than second in any race she competed in. Some of her biggest wins included the Thousand Guineas, the Memsie Stakes as well as the Caulfield Stakes.

All Aged Stakes Odds

If you plan on betting on the All Aged Stakes, the odds are a vital piece of information you’ll need. You may think you’ve found a winner, but if the odds are something like $1.45, is there any real value there? The shorter the odds, the more likely the bookie thinks that outcome will eventuate. But remember, the favourite doesn’t win every single time!

Well before the All Aged Stakes is due to be run, all of the best horse racing betting apps will open markets for the race. It is currently race week and our favourite bookie, PlayUp, has released all their odds for the race. We have provided their current fixed win odds for each runner in the All Aged Stakes in this section.

PlayUp has released their horse racing markets for the All Aged Stakes, so make sure you check them out in this section. It is also a good idea to check what stage the market is in, if the market is listed as “Before Noms” it means that if the runner you bet on doesn’t make the final field, you’ll still get your stake back.

It is important to note that when the market is live, the odds for all runners will be changing, most likely multiple times a day. They will even likely be changing dramatically on the day of the race as well. Market moves are very common in horse racing and they can be fairly unpredictable.

All Aged Stakes History

The first-ever All Aged Stakes took place in 1865 and was won by Falcon. Since then we have seen many quality editions of the race and it has certainly cemented itself as one of the best races during the Autumn Racing Carnival, which happens to be one of the biggest horse racing carnivals of the year.

The All Aged Stakes is now run over a distance of 1,400m, but that wasn’t always the case. Before 2004, the race was won at a distance of 1,600m before it was permanently moved to a distance of 1,400m. The most successful trainer in the All Aged Stakes history is none other than Gai Waterhouse, who has trained five winners.

Throughout the long history of the All Aged Stakes, it is Trapeze Artist (2018) who holds the race record of 1:20.33. The race in 2013 brought some drama with it when All Too Hard’s victory was overshadowed by a falling out between trainer Gai Waterhouse and owner John Singleton after More Joyous’ disappointing race.

A few years earlier, in 2011, we finally saw Hay List get his time at the top after regular competitor, Black Caviar, was absent from the race. How many times did Hay List go down to Black Caviar? Too many to count probably!

The Australian racing calendar is filled to the brim with quality Group 1 and key feature races. If you want to learn about more than just the All Aged Stakes, be sure to visit our Group One races list for more information.

All Aged Stakes Results

Each year the team at OnlyRacing will bring you all the latest All Aged Stakes results. This section will provide you with the full finishing order of every runner in the field as well as a video replay, so you can relive all the action.

In 2024, the All Aged Stakes was won by Magic Time, who wasn’t the favourite but was certainly one of the more favoured runners in the market. Magic Time had some great closing splits to run down Amenable, who finished in second place by just 0.4L.

In third place was Private Eye, who was leading the race in the closing stages, but just couldn’t hold on from the likes of Magic Time and Amenable, finishing 3.2L off the leader. The All Aged Stakes was run in a time of 1:27.50 and there was a total of 35.9L that separated the first and last finishers.
