All Aged Stakes Preview and Tips 19/04/25

The Championships may be over, but there is still one more weekend of racing to see out what was an epic Autumn Racing Carnival in Sydney. We have two Group One races, the All Aged Stakes as well as the Champagne Stakes, which both take place at Randwick Racecourse. Who will claim last-minute Group One glory during the Autumn Carnival?

For the All Aged Stakes, we see a field of 14 runners confirmed and it is a very high-quality field with lots of live chances. At the moment, Briasa is the narrow $3.70 favourite with PlayUp. The likes of Jimmysstar, Joliestar and Broadsiding aren’t too far behind him and are all listed with single-digit odds.

So, for one last time during the 2025 Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival, my Saturday tips have arrived here at OnlyRacing. I have tips for both the All Aged Stakes and the Champagne Stakes, so make sure you check them out. For the All Aged Stakes, in particular, I have produced five best bets. So, let’s get stuck in!

Best Horse Racing Betting Sites

Race Tempo and Likely Leaders

There are a few runners with some speed in this one, so I expect the All Aged Stakes to be run at a moderate pace. It’s looking like Belclare and Desert Lightning might look to take a lead position in this race, jumping from barrier two and five, respectively. Don’t be surprised if Magic Time, Kimochi and My Oberon push forward as well.

Briasa, who is the current favourite for the race on Saturday, jumps from barrier four and will likely settle off the race, a couple of runners back. It isn’t a particularly large field, so he is likely to get the breaks in the closing stages of the race and be able to use his fast closing speed to finish strongly.

All Aged Stakes Best Bet - Jimmysstar

There’s a lot of quality in this year’s edition of the All Aged Stakes and it was difficult to pick just one to go as my best bet. In the end, I think Jimmysstar is the most likely to succeed, so I’m putting him forward. The gelding is currently going around with odds of $6.00 with PlayUp, which puts him on the second line of betting.

Jimmysstar kicked off his campaign in the best way possible, a win in the Oakleigh Plate and then he went to Moonee Valley for the William Reid Stakes, finishing third. In his last race, he finished fourth in the TJ Smith Stakes (run at Randwick), despite bombing the start. We see Ethan Brown saddle up once again and the 5YO has a Soft track record of 7:3-1-2.

All Aged Stakes Safe Bet - Briasa

For my safe bet, it has to be none other than Briasa, who is the current favourite for the All Aged Stakes with Bet365, at odds of $3.80. Briasa is also coming through the TJ Smith Stakes and that was a race he won. He will be tackling this race third-up and jockey Tyler Schiller will be on board once again.

He boasts a great career record as well, winning seven of the nine races he has competed in. The TJ Smith Stakes is one of the ideal lead-up races for the All Aged Stakes and we have seen seven of the last nine winners come from the TJ Smith Stakes. The 4YO draws well, but we have yet to see him contest a Soft-rated track.

All Aged Stakes Value Bet - Antino

Antino is another runner that I think could run well in the All Aged Stakes, certainly in the top three. We haven’t seen the gelding so far this year and last time out was over in Hong Kong when he contested the Hong Kong Mile. Nothing seemed to go right for the 6YO in that race, so you can probably put a line through that poor result.

Instead, focus on what able to do in his Spring prep. His best result during Spring was a 6.5L win in the Toorak Handicap and then he finished second in the Champions Mile. There’s pretty decent value going around for Antino as well, with Dabble currently offering $15 for the gelding to take the win.

All Aged Stakes The Danger - Broadsiding

Broadsiding has to be considered another major chance in the All Aged Stakes. As the only 3YO in the race, he will carry just 56.5kg in this WFA contest. He is dropping down from the 2,000m he contested last time out in the Rosehill Guineas, where he won and trainer Jame Cummings has had some success with this move in the past.

The colt has had a very successful prep so far, he kicked things off with a win in the Hobartville Stakes, then he finished second by 0.5L in the Randwick Guineas and then won the Rosehill Guineas. He has a good record at the 1,400m and JMac retains the ride after being on board for the last two. He is currently paying $6.75 to win with QuestBet.

All Aged Stakes Best Roughie - Grail Seeker

Grail Seek has some very high odds and I think the mare is worth a shout. Bet Right is currently offering $31 for the 4YO to claim victory on Saturday. There are a few unknowns about the mare, which is reflected in the price. This will be her first run in Australia after making the trip across the ditch.

She does, however, hold a decent career record of 12:4-2-2 and she is a two-time Group One winner this season in New Zealand. Some of her best results have also come when she is fresh and she’ll be tackling the All Aged Stakes first-up. Boasts a good Soft-rated record as well, at 4:2-1-1, so there is a lot to like.
