The Vinery Stud Stakes is one of the main Group One races that takes place during the Autumn Racing Carnival. We always see some of the best 3YO fillies step out for their chance at Group 1 glory. The Vinery Stud Stakes is known as the main lead-up race for the Australian Oaks, which is run two weeks later and is worth a cool $1 million.

Along with the Vinery Stud Stakes, the Tancred Stakes is also raced on the same day and racecourse. The Australian Cup is also raced on the same day, but it takes place at Flemington Racecourse. So, you’ve got lots of quality races on this day to tuck into.

Vinery Stud Stakes Best Bet - Treasurethe Moment

This best bet for the 2025 Vinery Stud Stakes was an easy pick, it has to go to Treasurethe Moment and she is the clear favourite with PlayUp at the time of writing, with odds of $1.55. With odds less than even money, there’s not a heap of value, but she is just so good that I’m even happy to take that.

The filly hasn’t raced on anything softer than a Soft5, but that is the only query and if the rain comes, you’ll get a better price for her. No matter the conditions, I think she’ll win this one, holding off in case there’s a better price might be the way to go. She comes into this on a six-race winning streak and Damian Lane sticks. Favourites have a good recent record here.

Vinery Stud Stakes Next Best - Declichy Boulevard

While all the attention is on Treasurethe Moment, you can’t discount Declichy Boulevard. The filly has been steadily improving so far this prep and last time out she finished third in the Phar Lap Stakes, by 2.6L. She’ll be tackling the 2025 Vinery Stud Stakes fourth up and will certainly have the fitness factor.

In her run in the Phar Lap Stakes, she was back quite a bit and was wide, so the result was pretty good considering. Draws the widest barrier of them all, so jockey Nash Rawiller will have his work cut out for him. She is a talented runner and will be able to take advantage if Treasurethe Moment is off. Declichy Boulevard is currently paying $7.50 at PlayUp.

Vinery Stud Stakes Best Roughie - Ella Hazel

Keen to see what Ella Hazel can do in the race, the filly is currently going around with the highest odds of them all with PlayUp, at $81. The 2,000m looks to be a bit challenging, but she has been going through the gears nicely so far this prep. There are a few classier runners in this, but I’m willing to take a small chance on her.

She broke through for her maiden last time out at Wyong and this is obviously a massive step up but winning form is still winning form. Don’t forget, seven of the last 14 winners have also won their lead-up race. Based on her breeding, the conditions look to suit as well. She’s better than a $81 chance in my eyes.

This includes the likes of Treasurethe Moment (2025), Orchestral (2024), Prowess (2023), Hungry Heart (2021), Verry Elleegant (2019), Montoya’s Secret (2017) and Single Gaze (2016).

Research was certainly an epic racehorse, in fact, she was the only filly to take out the Australian Derby and the Australian Oaks. In 1989, she was named the Australian Champion Racehorse of the Year thanks to the many wins she had that year. Throughout her career, she earned almost $2 million and had a record of 31:9-5-2.

Miss Finland - 2007

Miss Finland had a very successful career which included several Group 1 wins. In the end, she finished her career with almost $5 million in prize money thanks to a record of 26:11-5-1. Most notably, Miss Finland won the 2006 Golden Slipper, but other races she won included; the Memsie Stakes, the Thousand Guineas and the Australian Guineas.

Verry Elleegant - 2019

Verry Elleegant won several races throughout her career including the biggest race of them all, the Melbourne Cup. She had an impressive career record of 36:16-7-3, which ensured she gained almost $15 million in prize money. Throughout the 2020/ 2021 season, she was named the Australian Racehorse of the Year.

Fangirl - 2022

At the time of writing, Fangirl is still racing and so far she has amassed almost $8 million in prize money. She has a career record of 25:8-5-3, which includes a win in the 2022 Vinery Stud Stakes. So far, she has won a total of three Group 1s, the other two being the King Charles III Stakes and the Winx Stakes.

When you bet on the Vinery Stud Stakes, you’ll see odds next to all the different markets. The shorter the odds, the more chance the bookie thinks that the bet will be successful. For example, if a runner is listed at $1.80 to win the race, that would almost certainly be the favourite in the race and bookies think they are most likely to win.

Let’s take a deeper look at the history of this great race! It doesn’t actually have as long of a history as some of the other races on the Australian racing calendar, but the first running of the Vinery Stud Stakes took place in 1979. The winner of the inaugural Vinery Stud Stakes was Impede.

These days the race is named after the New South Wales-based horse breeding operation, Vinery Stud. Although this wasn’t always the case, the race has been run under many names throughout its history:

• 1979-1991 - Storm Queen Stakes
• 1992-2001 -  Ansett Australia Stakes
• 2002-2008 - Arrowfield Stud Stakes
• 2009-Present - Vinery Stud Stakes

In terms of the race distance, it has almost always been at 2,000m, except for the first-ever Vinery Stud Stakes, which was run at a distance of 1,900m. It took until 1993 for the Vinery Stud Stakes to hold Group 1 status. In the beginning, the Vinery Stud Stakes was a Principal race and then it was upgraded to Group 2 status between 1980 and 1992.

In 2025, the Vinery Stud Stakes was originally supposed to be run on Saturday, March 29, but due to poor weather, the race was moved to the following Tuesday. This was also the case for the other Group 1 at Rosehill that was supposed to be run on the same day, the Tancred Stakes.

The Vinery Stud Stakes takes place during the middle of the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival, which just happens to be one of the biggest horse racing carnivals of the year! The question on everyone’s lips - who won the 2026 race? Well, we can’t give you the Vinery Stud Stakes results just yet because the race hasn’t been run and won. But as soon as we know who claimed victory we will provide all the details you’re looking for like the full finishing order and a race replay.

In 2025, the Vinery Stud Stakes was taken out by the pre-race favourite, Treasurethe Moment. Treasurethe Moment, who was paying $1.40 at the jump, proved too good in the closing stages of the race. Benagil, who jumped from barrier two finished in second place, 1.2L off the pace.

Filling in the final minor placing was Declichy Boulevard, who jumped from the widest barrier of them all and finished 3.2L off the pace. For the Vinery Stud Stakes in 2025, there was a total of 13.1L that split the first and last runners across the finish line and the race was run in a time of 2:04.97.
